PHP Introduction

Rasmus Lerdorf

BiographyBioPaperPaper AudioAudio

A fast-moving thorough and quite pragmatic introduction to the world of PHP. Topics to be covered include:

  • Language introduction
  • Dynamic generation of images, PDF and flash
  • HTTP and other interesting protocols
  • PEAR
  • Sessions
  • Security

Attendees will come out of this tutorial with a good understanding of how to use PHP to solve a broad range of real-world problems. Some experience with HTML and the web in general is assumed. No prior PHP experience is assumed, but the tutorial does not dwell too long on the details of the language itself, choosing instead to focus on how to use the language. This means the tutorial tends to be interesting and useful even for quite experienced PHP developers.
